Love Where You Live

Atlanta, Georgia

I want to give out a little bit of motivation to y’all..something that I have been trying to do for myself recently; learning how to live a happier life. Don’t worry I’m not gonna get all Eat. Pray. Love on you.

As much as I love to travel, I sometimes find myself stuck here in the country outskirts of northern Atlanta. Two years ago I moved here from Orlando, FL and in the beginning I was so excited about it. A NEW ADVENTURE. A NEW CITY. A NEW LIFE.

All of that went slowly down the drain after about 3 month’s of living here. My boyfriend’s workload started to take over and I realized how lonely I felt.

When you get older, it’s harder to make quality friends, especially if you don’t have the means of making them. I would literally go to the dog park just to have some social interaction. I had no job at the time so couldn’t make friends that way, and even now most of my work is done online. I started to HATE Georgia. I missed the hundreds of people I knew in Orlando. It was like anywhere I went there; I would run into someone I knew.

So instead of basking in my pathetic cry to make friends or enjoy my new city, you know what I did?

I went out, started going anywhere I could…the bars, the concerts, the Sunday markets, I mean shit I’d linger in the grocery store just to make some type of conversation. If you know me personally, I could make friends with a brick wall. Not everyone is like me and I get that, but stop having a pitty party for yourself and get your tits out there!-not literally–or maybe literally? 😉 I decided that I was the only one in charge of my happiness.

SO YA KNOW WHAT I DID AND SO SHOULD YOU??

LOVE WHERE YOU LIVE!

Georgia has so many amazing things to offer, and you know what? I started to take advantage of it all.

One minute you could be sipping mimosas overlooking the mountains

shit, even watching a MLB game while shoving your face with popcorn AND alcohol

The possibilities are endless. I could sit here all day showing you all the fun stuff I’ve done to make this place feel like home. These pictures aren’t to make you jealous or to rub it in your face of all the shit I’ve done. It’s to show you that no matter where you are, make happiness for yourself.

So what I’m getting at is…start to love where you live. Make the most the of your days by going and exploring a new restaurant, a park, a damn hike in your backyard. I started to create my happiness here and that has made a world of difference. NOW, when I go on trips, no matter how long, I am always okay with coming back home. I made it a home. WE made it a home.

Us buying our first house- I remember posting this picture and the most memorable comment made on it was that I looked genuinely happy.

What I hate is when people state how jealous they are of all my travels…except they don’t even step foot outside of their comfort zone, they don’t even switch up their daily routines. Take a different way home from work, take a day trip to a new city, go on adventures that fulfill your life. None of this has to cost a shit ton of money..it doesn’t even have to be about traveling..it’s about creating your OWN happiness. Hell, even grab some snacks…several bottles of wine and go have a picnic somewhere. Learn to open your eyes to the beauty that’s around you so that you start to appreciate everything. That way, when you do go on vacations or go to work you come back to something worth calling home.

One more important thing to remember…stop listening to other people who tell you how to live your life. You don’t even have to listen to me. 😉

A lot of travel bloggers claim “I like to spend my money on experiences not things.” Well guess what bitches?? I like spending my money on both. So if I wanna have a big house AND go on vacations AND still be able to pop Ace of Spades bottles on bitches titties then don’t you dare pass judgment on me.

I hope if you took one thing away from this post it is that you are in total control of your happiness and happiness usually starts at home. Once you do that, all the other things in life will slowly follow. Does any of this makes sense? You get what I’m trying to say right? Love yourself, love your life and love where you live.
