Staying at Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa In Grand Cayman

Ever heard of Grand Cayman? Pronounced KAY-MAN. Well, I hadn’t really until just recently. Grand Cayman is the largest of 3 islands situated to the West of Cuba. THANK YA JESUS that it was not affected by the recent hurricanes. I don’t think my heart could take the devastation of such a well-kept, underrated island!

Like many places in the Caribbean, you come to the islands for some rest and relaxation in the sun! Grand Cayman is by far one of my favorite beach destinations to visit and you’ll soon see why!

Here is my adventure staying at Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa! Grab your sunscreen babes, you’re in for a treat!

Transport & Transit

Grand Cayman is only a hop and skip away from the United States, with the closest airport being Miami. Although it was still only a 2-hour flight from Atlanta…this place is easily accessible from just about anywhere. Weighing in as the largest islands don’t necessarily categorize it as big. Cayman only spans an area of about 76 square miles, making it super easy to get around.

That is…if you know how to drive on the left side of the road. Holy shit, let’s just say I looked like a drunk driver at all times a day. I highly recommend renting a car. It’s fairly inexpensive and the road system is a piece of cake! Plus, if you get lost, there is almost a bar on every street corner to save the day!

Kimpton Seafire Resort

Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa was JUST named a 5-star hotel and man did it exceed my expectations. I had to bitch slap myself when I arrived because I thought I was dreaming. Backing up to the Caribbean Sea, Seafire Resort had everything you could possibly want and then some.

4 restaurants to appeal to every appetite (or my multiple personalities) 2 bars to help you drink your worries away, 2 outdoor pools that are perfect for lounging and even a spa!

With its modern nautical design and lounge areas in every corner of the hotel, you will not be disappointed anywhere. Best part? They include a 24-hour fitness center, free valet parking and all the non-motorized water sports your heart could only dream of!

Rooms & Suites

I’ll let the room view do the talking. I was lucky enough to stay in a one bedroom suite on the top (10th) floor. Ocean views, 2 balconies…I felt like fucking Beyonce up there. Some might not know, but my mom is an interior designer, so my love of decorating comes from her (and 1000 episodes of HGTV) I was OBSESSED with the decor.seafire

Do you know how sometimes beach places can be tacky? Well, not here. Vibrant colors and patterns were strategically placed…these people knew WTF they were doing!

Obviously, if you aren’t a queen like me…there are other more peasant affordable options. Some don’t face the ocean, and you probably won’t have an entire living room stocked with a mini bar, but who wants to stay inside most of the day anyway? Get your ass outside and enjoy Seafire Resort in Grand Cayman!

 Eating & Drinking

Ah, my favorite part of almost any trip, THE ALCOHOL! Just kidding…but really. Here, there is no shortage of (overpriced) mixed cocktails. Who doesn’t love a refreshing cucumber spritzer by the beach? I know my alcoholic ass does.

My personal fav. on Seafire Resort property was the beachfront restaurant, Coccoloba. From swimming in the Seven Mile Beach to snacking on modern Mexican flare, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. A gentle ocean breeze to soothe that sunburn paired with fresh margaritas to make you forget about the outside world.

seafire

If Mexican isn’t your style there are plenty of other up-scale or casual dining options around the resort. Breakfast, brunch (most important meal of the day) lunch and dinner options galore!

The indoor/outdoor areas inviting you to taste the sea while overlooking the sea is priceless!

Activities & Amenities around Kimpton Seafire Resort

Some R & R is fun, but you know what’s even more fun? Outdoor activities. With the weather being hot and beautiful (like myself) all year round, you won’t be able to stay indoors!

Seafire Resort has something for every age. Want to book a private picnic hosted by their world-renowned chef? Or what about a special sunset cruise to a local hot spot for a more romantic approach? Even if you have those annoying little rodents (I’m talking about kids…) they even have a special club for them to hang out in!

sunset

In the room, they gave me a schedule with daily activities that included outdoor yoga, and a social hour with free local beer and wine! After a nice beverage, you can head outside and rent everything from paddle boards to kayaks, to snorkel gear.

Forgot your GoPro (or too poor to own one after this trip?) Seafire has you covered! Free rentals included in your daily resort fee!

Did I mention you can bring your bitches?? Not your girlfriends..well they can come to, but your pups! Can’t forget your furry friend at home. I’m talking any dog, cat, reptile etc. No one is left behind!

They state, “If it can fit through the door, it’s welcome!” This really resonates with me having not only a small but large dog that might be left out of some hotels. It’s sad that more places don’t accommodate pets like this, they need love too!!

Service & Staff

Sometimes at luxury boutique hotels, the services can be a little stuffy. Especially when you are a young adult staying in a really nice place. Like any island staff though, they welcome you with open arms.

Readily available to help you with any question, concern or request! Like when you need 20 bottles of water in your room, some more cookies and a mountain of pillows. I can’t help I’m needy!!

seafire resort

Indoor, outdoor, poolside…it doesn’t matter. Each and every staff member brings something fresh and exciting to the table. A beautiful polish girl might take your drink order, and a hot South African guy might bring out your food. They are personable; they actually give a shit. I love making conversation and trading stories!

The Conclusion?

You need to locate Grand Cayman on a map, buy a flight and get your ass down! This amazing resort speaks for itself. Backing up to the Seven Mile Beach with the bluest water as far as the eye can see. If you want some trashy tourist trap then make your way to the Bahamas, but if you want a spectacular vacation from start to finish, you need to visit Kimpton Seafire Resort & Spa…like now.

seafire

Did you know that the reason it’s called SEAFIRE  RESORT is because of the sunsets they have there? It literally looks like the sea is on fire. Okay well actually, I don’t know if that’s true but it sounds pretty damn good.

  31. Jocelyn says:

Went to Grand Cayman years ago on a cruise but didn’t have much time to do anything other than look at sea turtles and wonder what was stashed in the off-shore accounts at the banks 😉 Hotel looks lovely…I like all-inclusive places like that since it sometimes slows you down and takes a lot of stress out of the picture.

  32. Barry says:

Looks like an epic place to stay. Love the pool and having the sea so close is always a bonus! I’m a big fan of early morning beach runs so this is the place for me 🙂
